Analox Managing Director Mark Lewis is undertaking several cycling challenges this year covering nearly 1,200 miles in total.

Mark is a keen cyclist who regularly goes on his bike two or three times a week across the North York Moors where he lives.

He typically does 75-80 miles every week and last year he took part in the Coast to Coast in a Day challenge.

Mark enjoyed taking part in the challenge so much, he decided to do it again this year with his wife Chris.

The Coast to Coast route takes place on Saturday 25 June and is a 150 mile road ride from Seascale, through the Yorkshire Dales, across the flat Vale of York and the Northern Valleys of the North York Moors and finishing by the sea in Whitby.

If this wasn’t challenging enough, from 10-18 September Mark is taking on the Deloitte Ride Across Britain bike ride.

The route covers a staggering 969 miles and runs from the farthest tip of Cornwall at Land’s End to the Northernmost tip of the UK at John O’Groats.

The event is broken into nine daily stages averaging 108 miles a day.

Riders climb around 15,000m during the route, which is around 13 times up Alpe d’Huez or almost twice the height of Everest.

As part of his training, Mark is riding twice a week and building up to longer rides. He is also doing a few cycling events such as the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire ride which takes place on 1 May. The route is 119km (over 73 miles) and starts and finishes in Scarborough.

This ride takes place on the same day as the Tour de Yorkshire, which is a 198 km route from Middlesbrough to Saltburn. During the route cyclists will pass through Stokesley where Analox is based.

Mark said: “I love the physical challenge of cycling and also find it relaxing as I have no time to worry about other things like work!

“I did the Coast to Coast in a day last year as a challenge and I really didn't know how difficult it would be. Having done it and had a good time, I decided to do it again. I saw The Lands End to John O'Groats ride as a big challenge and was going to do it in 2017, but a mate of mine wanted to do it in 2016 so I said yes!”
